Your Guide to SLS-Free Shampoo and Natural Soap

Your guide to SLS-free shampoo and natural soap

If you have started reading shampoo and soap labels more closely, you will see a few terms repeated: SLS-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, natural. Here is what those terms mean and how they show up in the natural range at Verena.

What does SLS-free mean?

SLS, or sodium lauryl sulfate, is one of the most common sulfates used in foaming cleansers to create a rich lather. A formula labeled SLS-free uses gentler cleansing ingredients instead. When a product is labeled SLS-free, it means this particular detergent is not in the formula. The product still cleanses; it just does so without that specific ingredient.

Why paraben-free is a clear label to look for

Parabens are a group of preservatives used in many personal care products. A product labeled paraben-free avoids this class of preservative. For people who prefer to keep added ingredients out of their routine, it is an easy label to check for at a glance.

The natural shampoos from COSMOLIVE

The natural shampoos in this range are SLS-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free. There are three formulas, each built around a different need:

  • Olive oil shampoo – SLS-free, for hair that needs nourishment and moisture.
  • Keratin shampoo – SLS-free, aimed at dry and damaged hair, to strengthen and restore.
  • Argan oil shampoo – SLS-free, for dry hair, a nourishing formula for everyday use.

Each bottle is a full 500ml, made for regular family use.

The natural soaps from COSMOLIVE

The soap range is built on natural ingredients, with a single featured ingredient in each bar. From saffron, rice and olive oil to goat milk, aloe vera, tea tree and activated carbon, the range is a good way to explore one natural hero ingredient at a time.

Choosing between them

Your shampoo handles the daily load for your hair, while a natural soap bar is there for skin and body. Both follow the same plant-based approach, so the choice comes down to your routine and the ingredient you prefer.

  • Shampoo – natural, SLS-free shampoos.
  • Soap – natural soap bars, each with its own featured ingredient.
